Lexus UX Concept Stuns at Paris Motor Show

An industry-first “inside-out” design is exceptional

The Lexus badge is synonymous with luxury and innovation, but it didn’t get that way by playing it safe throughout the years. Here at MotorWorld | MileOne Autogroup, we are excited to bring you news regarding the latest Lexus concept vehicle, the Lexus UX, which debuted earlier this year at the Paris Motor Show.

The UX Concept reflects the determination of the engineers and designers at Lexus to redefine the driving experience, as seen through deconstructed interior styling and an aggressive exterior design. Occupants will be fully immersed in new technologies and completely redesigned ergonomics.

Exterior design

At first glance, the UX Concept appears fierce and formidable, capable of tackling both crowded city streets and open freeways with ease. The entire design of the vehicle is based on the “inside-out” concept that was developed by ED2 designers in Lexus’ Southern France design center.

"We wanted to show the human-centric aspect of the concept in a visually as well as philosophically strong way... To create the anticipation from the exterior, which could then have a visual link and expand into the interior, was a key goal," said  Alexandre Gommier, Interior Designer, ED2.

An X-shaped movement carries the eye from the cabin outward, and from the exterior inward, giving the vehicle a unified look. The front fenders flow easily into the cabin, providing room for e-mirror screens that stream images from the door-mounted rear-facing cameras. In the rear, the bodywork forms the structure of the rear-seat headrests by also flowing back into the cabin, just as the front fenders do.

Designers further emphasized the “inside-out” theme by creating the wheel arches, roof bars, and door cameras with the same materials to provide a continuous structure throughout the vehicle.

Fans of the Lexus brand will also immediately notice a difference in the front grille, which has moved from the simple lines and crosshatching found in models today to a pronounced angular design that radiates away from the logo and provides a three-dimensional visual to aid in the emphasis of the concept’s muscular stance.

Interior design

Inside, the UX Concept implements deconstructed design elements in the front and elegant styling in the rear.

The Lexus Kinetic Seat Concept puts increased ergonomics and safety at the forefront of the driver experience by utilizing state-of-the-art technology to evenly disperse the load of the occupant and stabilize their spine and head to reduce the risk of injury in the event of a collision. This concept is featured in the front row, while the back seat features a plush lounge sofa that wraps around into the hinged rear doors, giving passengers the comfort and spaciousness they desire.

Instead of a traditional dashboard, Lexus designers have created a sharp, angular flowing dash that includes a combination of analogue, digital, and hologram displays. Other exciting features include electro-chromatic windows, e-mirror cameras, and a removable sound bar on the passenger side of the dashboard.

The Lexus UX Concept is a vehicle that’s unparalleled in the auto industry. The technology and design included is nothing short of industry-changing, and the team at MotorWorld | MileOne Autogroup couldn’t be prouder to represent Lexus innovation.

We look forward to seeing this technology implemented in the future, but until then, we have plenty of technology-packed Lexus vehicles on our lot.
