The 2017 Cadillac XT5 Earns Top Safety Rating from the IIHS
The 2017 Cadillac XT5 shines by earning the highest safety award issued by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the Top Safety Pick+ award, and MotorWorld | MileOne Autogroup is very proud! After all, it takes a lot to earn the Top Safety Pick+ award. The 2017 Cadillac XT5 had to achieve outstanding ratings in its small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, and roof strength and head restraint tests. Another requirement for the award was to incorporate an available front crash prevention system that was superior enough to earn an advanced rating.
“Passenger safety was one of our top priorities when we engineered the XT5,” said Paul Spadafora, XT5 chief engineer. “We equipped the XT5 with Cadillac’s full set of driver awareness and driver assistance systems to aid collision avoidance. Just as importantly, we designed an advanced structure that is both stiffer and lighter, for excellent crashworthiness. This included a revised front structure that specifically targets the challenging offset barrier scenario.”
Safety features of the Cadillac XT5 include seven standard airbags and an available OnStar® suite of emergency services, including Automatic Crash Response. Also available are numerous advanced safety systems included in the Driver Awareness and Driver Assist Packages.
The Driver Awareness Package is available on the XT5 Luxury trim level and is standard on the Premium Luxury and Platinum trims. It includes the Safety Alert Seat, Forward Collision Alert, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, front pedestrian detection, Front Automatic Braking, and IntelliBeam™ headlights (automatic high beam).
There is also the Driver Assist Package, which is available in the XT5 Premium Luxury and Platinum trims. This includes adaptive cruise control, Automatic Safety Belt Tightening, Automatic Park Assist, Automatic Collision Braking, and Front and Rear Automatic Braking, all of which are required to earn the Top Safety Pick+ rating.
