SCHEDULE TEST DRIVE

Overview

The Hyundai Veloster is not your typical car; not even close. It’s an amalgamation of style, utility, and performance wrapped into one sleek and sexy package. Buyers who are searching for the thrilling road manners of a coupe but don’t want to sacrifice the utility of a sedan will instantly fall for the Veloster’s unique three-door design and charming good looks.

The Veloster is available in four trims, including the new Veloster Value Edition. The Value Edition retains the base model’s 1.6-liter engine but adds many of the features available on the Turbo. The R-Spec features a sport-tuned suspension, a manual transmission, and R-Spec interior highlights for a sporty take on this already stylish option. The Veloster starts at $18,100.*

The Perfect Ride for…

Drivers who need a small but versatile car that delivers on value, versatility, and convenience. Thoughtful touches abound—for instance, the “three-door coupe” body style that includes two smaller doors on the passenger side to make rear access a breeze. The Veloster also comes standard with a 7-inch touchscreen, Blue Link® infotainment, and Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ smartphone functionality.

Drive & Handling

The front-wheel-drive Veloster and Veloster Value Edition are powered by a standard 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that creates 132 horsepower and 120 pound-feet of torque when mated to the Veloster’s standard six-speed manual transmission. Drivers looking to hand over shifting duty can opt for an available six-speed Ecoshift® Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT), complete with paddle shifters, that provides an extra sprinkle of sportiness.

Next up is a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder good for 201 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. It can be found living inside the Veloster Turbo and R-Spec. All come standard with a six-speed manual; however, the Turbo is also available with a seven-speed DCT.

All that performance doesn’t come at the expense of fuel economy either. The Veloster is as efficient as it is sporty, serving up 30 mpg combined (26 city/35 highway)** in its base form.

Key Features

Dimension® Premium Audio

Standard on the Veloster Value Edition, Turbo, and R-Spec, the Dimension® premium audio system delivers crystal-clear sound through eight speakers (including an 8-inch subwoofer). Stream music from your Bluetooth®-equipped phone, or connect your smartphone for access to your entire music library at your fingertips.

Proximity Key entry with push-button start

Don’t waste a moment when it comes to your perfect drive. With the available high-tech Proximity Key, your Veloster will recognize you and unlock your vehicle with the push of a button. Behind the wheel, another button starts the engine so you can get on the road quickly.

Navigation

The available navigation system features Siri® integration, HD Radio™ technology, and a multi-touch screen with customizable folders. Advanced voice recognition and an enhanced microphone make it easy to find your next destination.

Alternative Options

The redesigned 2017 Hyundai Accent is also another great option for compact shoppers. The new Accent offers considerable comfort, space, and style in either sedan or hatchback form. The 2017 Elantra GT, a five-door hatchback version of the Elantra sedan, is another worthy choice. With an impressive level of refinement and a reasonably engaging driving experience, it shows just how far economy cars have come in the past decade.
