2020 CADILLAC CT5
Overview
For 2020, Cadillac replaced the outgoing CTS with the new Cadillac CT5 which features significant updates and upgrades. With stylish lines that are sure to turn heads, the CT5 is available in four trim levels - Luxury, Premium Luxury, Sport, and V-Series. Opting for the Premium Luxury model upgrades buyers to additional features like a wireless smartphone charging pad, rear parking sensors, and more. The CT5 packs a powerful punch with a combination of performance, luxury, and style that allows it to squarely compete with the likes of German automakers to include BMW, Audi, and Mercedes-Benz.
The Perfect Ride For...
The unconventional driver that wants to prioritize comfort, luxury, and performance but prefers American-made models. The 2020 CT5 offers a compelling alternative to vehicles like the C-Class and A4 while more than holding its own in a crowded market. With four models to choose from, buyers have no shortage of options and standard features are abundant—even on the base Luxury model—like push-button start, a 12-way power-adjustable driver's seat, Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, and a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
Drive & Handling
The 2020 Cadillac CT5 is available with two engine options. A turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder is standard and produces 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. This engine delivers exceptional power and performance, without sacrificing fuel economy. It is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. All-wheel drive is available as an additional option. For the power-hungry drivers, a 3.0-liter turbo V6 is available on the Premium Luxury trim. This engine offers a whopping 335 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque.
Independent MacPherson strut front suspension with a double pivot design gives responsive steering. When paired with the independent 5-link rear suspension, the CT5 has superior control and handling. Thanks to the selectable drive modes, you can choose between Tour, Sport, Snow/Ice or a personal setting to customize the way the CT5 responds on the road.
Key Features
Safety
The 2020 CT5 prioritizes safety by including a host of driver assistance features standard on every model. For starters, the standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection system automatically applies the brakes if a person is detected to be behind or in front of the vehicle. Optional features like the Lane Departure Warning with Lane-Keeping Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control keep you traveling in your intended lane and reduce driving-induced fatigue. Parents of new drivers will appreciate the Teen Driver system which enables parental controls that can mute the radio when front-seat passengers aren't wearing their seatbelts and provide a report card that highlights when the car is speeding, when the brakes are applied too aggressively, and much more.
Technology & Connectivity
The CT5 includes Cadillac's newest version of the CUE infotainment system on a 10-inch touchscreen display that offers an intuitive user experience. Seamless smartphone integration is possible with Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, Bluetooth®, and three USB ports. With 4G LTE Wi-Fi® hotspot capability, you’ll never be too far to stay connected. For an even more modern experience, a head-up display, eight-speaker Bose® audio system, and a wireless charging dock are available.
Alternative Options
If you’re looking for a little more space, the Cadillac XT5 is a great option for modern drivers that need more space, but don’t want to commit to a full-size SUV. Nimble and powerful, the XT5 feels more like a sport sedan. For an entry-level sedan, take a look at the CT4. This sedan may be entry-level, but it’s not lacking in performance or luxury.
