Overview
Last year, Hyundai refreshed its lineup with a modern refresh of one of its most well-known models: the Santa Fe. This remarkable redesign created one of the most capable, technologically advanced, and stylish models in the segment, and the Hyundai Santa Fe is carrying on that intense road presence for 2020.
The Perfect Ride For...
The new generation Santa Fe has something for everyone. Capable power, modern conveniences, and ample seating for five people round off the list of features for this well-rounded mid-size SUV. Buyers looking to get the best of everything—from efficient performance to advanced technology—can get in on a good thing for an affordable price. At a starting price of just $25,900,* today’s Hyundai Santa Fe is more attractive than ever.
Powertrain
Hyundai offers the 2020 Santa Fe in five increasingly impressive trim levels from the base SE to the top-shelf Limited 2.0T. Upgrading to the next level means more comfortable amenities and safety features and, in some cases, even more power.
The standard powertrain is an inline-four for today’s roads. The 2.4-liter engine can produce as much as 185 horsepower, more than enough to get you where you’re going. How can a 4-cylinder engine deliver such ample power? The answer is state-of-the-art automotive technology from Hyundai engineers. For example, the 2020 Santa Fe uses Dual Continuous Variable Valve Timing (D-CVVT) to control intake and exhaust valves using hydraulic pressure. It makes micro-adjustments dozens of times per second to achieve the most power while maintaining the most efficiency. Combine this with other fuel-saving tech like Idle Stop & Go and an 8-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC®, and the front-wheel-drive Santa Fe will offer an EPA-estimated 29 mpg on the highway and 22 in the city, while the intelligently-responsive HTRAC® All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) Santa Fe returns slightly less at 27 mpg on the highway and 21 in the city.**
If that doesn’t do it for you, then consider the premium SEL 2.0T or the Limited 2.0T with the 2.0-liter Turbo. This advanced powertrain also uses an inline four-cylinder engine with the same advanced fuel-saving tech mentioned above, but the turbocharger boosts the power output to 235 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. It’s a luxury, no doubt. You don’t need it, but you will love it nonetheless.
The 2020 Santa Fe offers more control over driving characteristics, too. Any trim level above the base SE will also come standard with the now-ubiquitous Drive Mode Selector. With this simple control, drivers can instantly alter multiple performance mechanics to match the needs of the road, providing more power in Sport mode, more efficiency in Eco mode, or somewhere in between in Normal mode. The available HTRAC AWD also provides more options to adapt to road conditions. This multi-mode system provides an electronic, variable-torque-split clutch with active torque control between the front and rear axles, providing confident control in all weather conditions.
Safety Features
The 2020 Santa Fe includes options for the most up-to-date passive and active safety systems on the market today. These laser-guided, computer-controlled features provide the situational awareness a modern driver should expect. For just one example, this Hyundai comes standard with Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, which uses the Blind Spot Detection radar to alert the driver to oncoming vehicles when reversing out of a parking spot, and it can even automatically apply the brakes to avoid a collision. Similarly, the available Safe Exit Assist can see cars coming from behind and alert passengers if they open the door into harm’s way. Plus, this year’s Santa Fe offers a safety first for the Hyundai lineup: Rear Occupant Alert, a new feature that can sense pets or small animals in the rear seats. If it senses movement in these seats after the driver leaves and locks the vehicle, it can honk the horn and even send a message to the driver’s smartphone via Hyundai’s Blue Link app. This will help prevent children and pets from being forgotten in cars or from accidentally locking themselves in.
Hyundai Blue Link®
With Blue Link, drivers will enjoy a three-year complimentary subscription, providing enhanced safety, diagnostic, remote controls, and navigation services. Hyundai’s Blue Link allows drivers to pair their vehicles with their compatible smartphones or even smartwatches. From anywhere in the world, drivers can use the Blue Link app to remotely start the vehicle or lock and unlock the doors. They can use it to remember where they parked their cars or to help the police track them down if stolen. Blue Link also offers enhanced roadside assistance or point-of-interest navigation.
Infotainment Features
On the inside, the 2020 Santa Fe comes with the most updated infotainment tech available. Drivers will enjoy the availability of high tech gadgetry like crystal-clear visuals in the heads-up display, 7-inch TFT LCD Multi-Information Display (pictured below), and massive 7- or 8-inch LCD touchscreen. And everyone can appreciate the immaculate sound experience from the Infinity® premium audio system with 12 speakers and Quantum Logic® Surround and Clari-Fi™ Music Restoration Technology. Plus, you can live wirelessly with a Bluetooth® connection and available wireless device charging in the center console.
