2023 Lexus RX

Overview
Ever since its first generation, the Lexus RX has played a trendsetter to the rest of the luxury SUV segment. The 2023 Lexus RX is no exception, this time offering a completely new design that’s bold and inspiring to some, polarizing to others, and unmistakably Lexus. The fifth-generation RX puts a new spin on the now-ubiquitous “spindle” grille design by adding a body-colored upper portion, while the rear gains a new full-width LED tail light design with entirely new badging – all changes that accentuate the midsize luxury SUV’s sporty physique. The new RX also boasts a slightly longer wheelbase for a more athletic stance, not to mention the extra rear-seat room it also provides.
The Perfect Ride For…
Anyone in search of a dynamic yet comfortable and luxurious two-row SUV. The stunning exterior of the 2023 Lexus RX gives way to an equally breathtaking interior. The instruments are all focused on the driver with easy-to-use controls. The Lexus Interface provides hands-free voice control that evolves over time for better accuracy. The digital instrument cluster is also joined by an available 14.1-inch high-resolution touchscreen display, complete with intuitive controls for audio, climate, and the cloud-based navigation system. Available soft multi-colored illumination accents deliver the perfect backdrop for nighttime drives.
Drive and Handling
Anyone who’s familiar with the Lexus RX will also be familiar with the long-serving 3.5-liter V6 engine. For 2023, however, that falls to the wayside in favor of a 2.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with 275 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque on tap. A new 8-speed automatic transmission funnels the power to the front wheels or all four wheels on AWD-equipped models. Things get a bit more interesting when you combine the 2.4-liter motor with dual electric motors, as done with the RX500h F SPORT Performance model. The end result is an estimated 367 horsepower, 406 pound-feet of torque, and a 0 to 60 mph time of 5.9 seconds. This model also features the DIRECT4 AWD system designed to push up to 80 percent of the vehicle’s power through the rear wheels for exhilarating performance.
Those searching more a more sedate yet fuel-efficient hybrid experience will find one in the RX350h. Equipped with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine and a pair of electric motors, this package delivers an impressive EPA-estimated 33 mpg combined while delivering 246 total horsepower and 233 pound-feet of torque. A plug-in variant of the RX350h is due later on. Sharp handling comes naturally for models equipped with the available Adaptable Variable Suspension. Drivers can also toggle through an assortment of drive modes to tailor their experience to whatever the road has in store.
