2023 Toyota bZ4X

Overview

Toyota's flagship electric vehicle line expands again with the 2023 Toyota bZ4X. While the company had a limited release of electric RAV4 vehicles in the past, the bZ4X is the company's first nationwide release of a fully electric vehicle. It's a high-end SUV with aggressively modern styling, but it's well within the affordable segment rather than a luxury purchase. The fuel savings offered by the electric motor paired with the responsive handling of the suspension ensures enjoyable drives without sticker shock at the pump. Plenty of trim, drivetrain, and infotainment options help you customize your bZ4X so it fits your needs perfectly. With a comfortable mid-size body that's longer than the Toyota RAV4, this vehicle boasts a spacious interior while still remaining easy to fit into standard parking spaces.

The Perfect Ride For...

Drivers who want to get into electric vehicles without compromising on style, power, or space. The bZ4X has the reliability and long-term performance needed for daily use by a commuter or long-distance traveler. This EV goes further thanks to advanced battery technology for faster charging and slower discharge. With a Limited trim level available to boost upholstery quality and add a multi-view camera, it's easy to upgrade for a luxury experience without the cost. Retirees looking for a smooth cruising experience and a stress-free charging experience from their EV would do well to select this model. Options for all-wheel drive and twin motor upgrades help this SUV handle gravel, snow, and more.

Drive and Handling

Designed around the new e-Toyota New Global Architecture platform, this SUV maximizes cabin space while offering a broad wheelbase for better handling. Choose between a single-motor design with front-wheel drive or an all-wheel-drive option with twin motors for additional power. X-MODE stability assistance is offered as a standard feature on vehicles that come equipped with the AWD system to improve steering in wet and slippery conditions. Single motor models provide 201 horsepower and upgrading to the twin motor package bumps the power to 214 horsepower. That's 196 lb.-ft. of max torque for the front-wheel drive bZ4X and 248 lb.-ft. of max torque combined to both axles in the AWD model.

Estimated mileage ranges for a single full change run from 228 to 252 for the AWD and front-wheel-drive models respectively. That's plenty of distance for road trips and round trip commutes before needing to stop for a recharge. Regenerative braking is augmented with the push of a button to extend range and preserve brake pads at the same time. Boost mode lets you get that extra power with just a press of the accelerator when you need to pass or get ahead in traffic in a pinch. Adaptive cruise control makes highway driving a breeze, while safety features like lane departure warnings are standard features. A strong suspension provides a traditional feeling for the ride while giving crisp control over bumps and uneven surfaces, even with just front-wheel drive.

Key Features

Infotainment Center

The spacious interior is packed with entertainment and informational features, including a 12-inch touchscreen in the center console to serve as the heart of the system. Use Apple CarPlay or the Android Auto systems to listen to music, make calls, and receive alerts all without touching anything. The Human Machine Interface unique to Toyota's vehicles gives you plenty of options for using voice-activated and one-touch features so your focus stays on the road.

Safety Features

Paired with the nearly silent ride of the 2023 Toyota bZ4X is a full suite of important safety features. Automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, and multi-view camera options help you avoid accidents.

ToyotaCare

Toyota has simplified service and worked to keep the cost of ownership low with the implementation of ToyotaCare. For the first two years or 25,000 miles, you'll enjoy no-cost maintenance including engine oil and filter changes, tire rotations, inspections, fluid level adjustments, and more.

Alternative Options

Drivers who aren't ready to dive into fully electric vehicles can still enjoy premium features and ultra-efficient powerplants with models like the Highlander, Sequoia, Corolla, Camry, and more. Toyota offers these and many other models with hybrid powertrains to keep fuel consumption and carbon footprints lower than traditional models. Not sure what you're looking for yet?
