2025 Honda HR-V

Overview

In a crowded arena full of compact SUVs, the 2025 Honda HR-V stands out in more ways than one. Perhaps it’s the attractive styling that deftly blends excitement with sophistication. Maybe it’s the efficient and road-worthy drivetrain that offers ample power along with excellent handling and ride quality. Or it could be the stylish interior that takes much of its inspiration from its sedan sibling, the Civic. Either way, the HR-V makes a great choice for frugal shoppers of all kinds. This year’s HR-V rolls on without any significant changes. After all, why mess with success?

Who’s It For?

The driver who wants a fun, yet reliable and affordable small SUV. On the outside, the HR-V’s sleek design and tasteful styling cues provide a great visual balance. Standard LED brake lights and available LED headlights help improve visibility in dark conditions. Sport trims feature a more aggressive appearance, thanks in large part to its blacked-out badges, bumper, grille, and other unique touches. Meanwhile, the interior features logical, easy-to-use controls and excellent ergonomics all around.

It also helps that the interior takes a great deal of its inspiration from the recent Civic, right down to the honeycomb air vents. Practicality is the name of the game, especially since it offers a plethora of ingenious storage solutions throughout. The rear seats also fold down 60/40 to reveal an ample 55.1 cubic feet of usable cargo space. A pair of electrostatic 2nd-row reading lights help rear passengers catch up on a good book or read directions.

Real World Performance

No matter which HR-V trim level catches your eye, whether it’s the base LX, mid-level Sport or top-tier EX-L, all feature the same engine and transmission combination under the hood. Pop it open and you’ll find a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, backed by a continuously variable transmission that gets the most out of the small yet potent powerplant. The engine itself is good for 158 horsepower and 138 pound-feet of torque, giving drivers plenty of practical power for the occasional overtakes and hilly highway segments.

Tick the right boxes and the 2025 HR-V comes equipped with the available Real Time AWD system. Whether you’re traveling on rough roads or dealing with slippery or snow-covered pavement, Real Time AWD kicks in by sending the right amount of torque to the right wheels at the right moments. An available Snow Mode helps improve traction and acceleration on snowy roads, reducing unnecessary wheel spin while giving drivers that extra peace of mind. As a standard, the HR-V sends all its power to the front wheels.
