Year in Review: 2023 MileOneCares Highlights

 

MileOne, through our philanthropic program MileOneCares, is committed to making lives better in the communities where we live and work and 2023 was no exception! By the end of 2023, we plan to donate approximately $2 million dollars in support of our continued efforts to provide access to safe transportation, strengthen our communities, and support our employees. 

As we head into the season of giving, read on for some MileOneCares highlights from this past year at MotorWorld.

CAR SEAT SAFETY & DISTRIBUTION EVENTS

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimates that child safety seats reduce fatal injury by 71% for infants younger than a year old and by 54% for toddlers in passenger vehicles. This is why we partner with community nonprofits like the PA Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics to hold Car Seat Safety and Distribution Events at MotorWorld to provide free car seats and installation education to those in need. This year, we’ve impacted over 1,000 families company-wide, many of whom were from NEPA. We look forward to continuing these important events in 2024.

LUZERNE COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE FOUNDATION

MotorWorld proudly supports the future of the automotive industry and each year, donates funds to the Luzerne Community College Foundation that provides millions of dollars in scholarship funds to deserving students. This year, $15,000 was donated to the foundation to ensure LCCC can continue to provide broader educational service opportunities to its students, staff, and faculty. 

THE CITY OF WILKES-BARRE K-9 UNIT

Back in 2016, MotorWorld donated funds to help secure a new pup, Chase, for the Wilkes-Barre Police Department K-9 Unit. This year, we did it again! The $15,000 recently donated to the City of Wilkes-Barre will support the care and extensive training the new department addition will need in order to join Chase on important patrols and community demonstrations. We can’t wait to meet them!
